Here's a first look at downtown Charleston. We will visit here periodically over the next two months so I must pace myself......
There's just something special about flowers blooming in Winter - it makes me feel like Mother Nature has suspended the rules. I guess I have lived too many years in a cold climate. (Note to self: why is that?) This sight is at Waterfront Park in downtown Charleston, the Ravenel Bridge visible on the horizon. And yes, it is a cable-stayed suspension bridge like the one in Boston. For those of you that say size matters, this one is longer than Boston's, but Boston's is wider.
Fancy columns, balustrades, iron work and quoin corners -everywhere you turn you can view interesting architecture, beautifully and lovingly maintained. And is it possible to casually work the word "quoin" into a conversation? I think not.
Or, simple lines, with muted pastel colors.
Can you imagine a more unusual and cool-looking way to dress up stair risers? I have never seen that in Boston.
Thank you for the pictures. Charleston seems to have a very historic feel to it. My family and I have been thinking about relocating to Charleston. I am trying to gather as much information about the city that I possibly can. I also have been looking into homes for sale in Charleston, SC and have been impressed with what I have seen so far.
