Up until last week, we have experienced an unlikely winter here in New England. Usually, in early February this cozy cottage and lawn would be covered in a foot or two of snow and the pond would be frozen solid. Not so this year. There has been little snow and few days of bitter cold.

These pine needles would be covered in snow and the evergreen branches laden with the heavy white stuff. Not so this year.

Regardless the presence or lack of snow, the sand at low tide is always a good place to walk. No scarf and no ear covering required on this early February day.
