Plymouth offers wide and varied settings. While I certainly like the quaint and historical downtown and harbor front areas, I also enjoy wandering through the quiet rural places. Plymouth is the largest municipality in the state of Massachusetts but its approximately 60,000 inhabitants are spread far and wide so it seldom feels crowded. These first three images are in the village of Chiltonville, one of perhaps a dozen designated "villages" within greater Plymouth.
This flowered intersection is one of the many beautifully landscaped corners in the Pinehills, an upscale planned residential community gracefully landscaped into the pine forest area.
Who can mind stopping at an intersection when you get to look at beautiful plantings in these small gardens? It is a telling demonstration of priorities when a development chooses to maintain natural beauty instead of cheap, quick, and easy solutions to maximize profit.
