Project Arts of Plymouth, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

Project Arts of Plymouth is a non-profit organization funded by generous sponsors, donors, and the public. This is their 19th year of hosting free concerts during the summer on the waterfront in downtown Plymouth. This year was special in that a new permanent bandshell structure had been completed and replaced the open-sided trailer stage they used in previous years.

The crowd gathered  ready for the music to begin. Plymouth Rock is contained in the columned structure  in upper right of the photo.

A large crowd attended this event with performers Steve Smith and the Nakeds, a 10-member band that played great R&B and rock  tunes. Many songs were reminiscent of the aging crowd's younger days. This band has been around making great music for 40 years. Steve Smith, shown above at left, mingled with the crowd while singing with his band on a cordless microphone.

I am always a sucker for a performer that has a horn section. They played some of my favorites from the band Chicago like the classic tune, "25 or 6 to 4."

The venue is adjacent to the harbor and some folks strolled to the music as the light faded.

As darkness closed in, the band played on.

Here's my "project art" - a photographic effort to capture the frenetic energy of the band.

It was another beautiful evening of free, live music outdoors in "America's Hometown."
