I lived for many years in Southern California and visiting the beach was much different than doing so in Massachusetts. Because development is so widespread in southern California, beach access is most always via a concrete or asphalt automobile parking lot. I don't ever recall having the opportunity for a calm and pastoral approach to the beach as is often the case in Massachusetts. I like this version better - the hidden jewel at the end of the walk.
Through the woods....
.....over the sandy path.......
....down the steps.....
....and the jewel is revealed.
