Priscilla Beach Theatre's (PBT) grand reopening of the restored Barn Stage occurred on Friday, July 10th, when the curtain rose to open the eleven show run of "Fiddler on the Roof." The initially scheduled nine performances sold out so fast that PBT has added two additional shows! You can visit their website at http://www.pbtheatre.org/ or call 508-224-4888 for tickets and more information.
Produced by Bob and Sandy Malone, directed by Ron Fassler, musical director Christopher Ricci, the ever-popular "Fiddler," winner of nine TONY awards, is a story set in the little village of Anatevka. The story centers on Tevye, a poor dairyman, and his five daughters. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, "Fiddler On The Roof's" universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness.
The image above shows the principal cast members and director. The following images were made during the final dress rehearsal and are in chronological order of occurrence. And yes, I have included more images in this blog post than I normally do - it's a special occasion - celebrating the premiere of the restored Priscilla Beach Theatre Barn Stage!
Curtain call.
A fascinating sidenote - the lead role of Tevye is played by Michael Bernardi. Michael's father, Herschel Bernardi, played the same role on Broadway in the 1960's, and Michael's grandfather, Berel Bernardi, played the role on stage in Eastern Europe.
Welcome back to live theatre at the Barn Stage at Priscilla Beach Theatre!
