The historic Brookwood Farm is a part of the Blue Hills Reservation south of Boston, Massachusetts. The entire Blue Hills Reservation complex is a beautiful 7000+ acre public parkland close to the busy city life of Boston.
Their website, brookwoodcomunityfarm.org, says that "the Brookwood Community Farm is a working organic farm and education center located in Milton and Canton, MA. The farm is dedicated to preserving historic farmland through sustainable agricultural production that improves access to healthy, affordable, freshly grown fruits and vegetables in urban communities. The farm operates a community supported agriculture program, sells produce at local farmers markets and provides on-farm employment, educational and volunteer opportunities to members of the surrounding communities."
The farm is a membership only "Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)" endeavor that sells a limited number of "shares." The CSA model gives farmers the advantage of upfront local customer interest and support and, also gives the buyers the advantage of a direct farmer to consumer connection. We have a CSA near my home in Manomet at the Holmes Farm that serves as a source of much of our summer produce.
Red is a fall color - even if it's just on someone's jacket. This road on the farm is Maple Lane - I was too early for the fall colors on the maple leaves on this visit - maybe next time.
