I take for granted the ability to walk into a public library in the United States and access almost any subject known. If it's not on the shelf they can order it for me - free. The library is the original internet - with the added benefit of a tactile experience.
Although the world increasingly relies on online services instead of the local library (me included), I still enjoy wandering the aisles and stumbling upon some wondrous book. It is somehow more "fun" than web-browsing. I hope the libraries survive the online competition.
