Out and About, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

I took another train trip to Boston to wander and enjoy some of the wonders of this fine city. Above, in the Seaport District, looking out over the harbor towards the Tobin Bridge.

In the Seaport District looking westward towards downtown.

Hanging out enjoying this unusually warm and humid spring day.

Flowers are especially eye-catching here in New England after spending so many months of every year  without them.

I wouldn't usually spend so much time in the Seaport but, I have taken a fancy to an Indian restaurant there, Madras Dosa Company, that offers delicious vegan options.

I always enjoy the ethereal quality of light under the Seaport Avenue Bridge across Fort Point Channel where this scene is located.

Strolling the greening Boston Common.

A new mural is taking shape on the vent building at the southern end of the Rose Kennedy Greenway near South Station. The artist is working from the bucket lift about 60 feet off the ground. This is the first black and white art I recall in this space. The previous mural was.......

Out and About, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

It was one of those days when the tulips in Boston's Public Garden were exploding in color......

.....and recent college graduates in robes and mortarboards were wandering for pictures with their respective families.

The pedal-powered swan boats had lines of tourists waiting to ride around the lagoon in the Public Garden.

The pedestrian walkways in the Public Garden were thronged with people out and about.

Did I mention there were tulips everywhere?

The George Washington statue in the Public Garden.

Walkers and snackers on the Boston Common.

An iconic view of the Hood milk bottle adjacent to Fort Point Channel and the Children's Museum.

At the end of my 14,000-step wandering in Boston - including a vegan Indian lunch in the Seaport District, it's time to catch the train from South Station for the relaxing ride back to Kingston and then the short drive home. I am liking this train routine as my new preferred method to visit the great city of Boston - especially since I was side-swiped by a high speed hit-and-run auto driver on the Southeast Expressway a few weeks back, narrowly averting disaster.

Low Tide, White Horse Beach, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

Dogs on the beach are controversial for some folks - me - I like them - they are generally friendly and unabashed in their pleasure at romping around, and dashing in and out of the water and chasing thrown balls with child-like glee.

A huge expanse of firm walking sand is exposed at this low tide on White Horse Beach.

Boston Marathon, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

The logistics for this event are staggering. Support services are provided by the many yellow-jacketed volunteers. Stacks of heat-reflective blankets are ready to be distributed to each competitor shortly after crossing the finish line - there were 25,000+ of them.

There are many yellow-jacketed volunteers who contribute the person-power to make this event happen. I am not a runner but, the effort to manage a 25,000 participant event doesn't happen by chance. So much good going on by people who contribute their time and work.

The volunteers were ever-ready to provide support to the runners immediately past the finish line.

On a perfect spring day in Boston, it was an exuberant crowd cheering in waves as the runners arrived at the finish line - after completing a 26+ mile run in one of the world's most renowned events. We were stacked in pretty thick on the sidewalks along this stretch of Boylston Street very near the race finish line.
