This is White Horse Beach on a busy summer weekend day. Certainly not "busy" in comparison to many other beach places around the world. I know it seems like I go to the beach a lot - and I do - but mostly just for walking. I am not the type to laze around in the sun. I am one of those old guys you occasionally see with almost every patch of skin covered up, floppy hat on head, hiding in the shade - but I am NOT the old guy that wears shorts and knee-length black socks to the beach - ever.
This unusually rough surf appeared recently when Hurricane Arthur passed nearby offshore.
This stream is Bartlett Brook as it empties into the bay. It bisects the long stretch of White Horse Beach. Kids for generations have ridden these rapids over and over, it's fresh water and also much warmer than the salt water bay it flows into - this time it's even better as the flow rate is greatly increased after the passing of Hurricane Arthur and six inches of rain that fell in Bartlett Pond upstream.
