Barn Show, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

The Barn Show Music Series recently finished its summer season of outdoor concerts at Holmes Farm in Manomet. Co-presented by Hayley Sabella and Brewster Productions, the concert series features the best in up-and-coming original music, with everything from folk to country to rock, and much more in between. It's hard to believe that the rolling hills of Holmes Farm are less than a mile from the ocean. (Click on an image to view a higher resolution version).

As the crowd gathered in front of the stage, I walked up to "the rock" on the top of the hill. Normally, it is swarming with young kids, delighted to play outdoors by themselves as their parents sit down below in the audience. The plaque embedded in the rock at lower right above says......

Clearly a special place - then and now. As a working farm, during the summer the Edible Yard operates a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) function that sells shares to the farm's seasonal bounty.

The crowd is still arriving as "Eva Walsh" takes the stage for the opening set.

A multi-talented musician, she plays the guitar, ukulele,.........

.......fiddle, and sings, too.

This is the fourth and final show of the 2016 summer season.  The effects of an ocean storm are being felt on the breeze tonight.  Shorts and t-shirts have been replaced with pants, coats, and blankets.

"The Ladles" took the stage next as darkness closed in.

Jon Dorn of Brewster Productions readies the stage for the headliner act, "The Novel Ideas."

"The Novel Ideas."

This very young child had barely learned to stand but, she still wanted to rock out with the band up close!

It was another great show to cap off this year's season, the third over the past three years.  I sure hope that Hayley Sabella and Brewster Productions do it again next year!  Top quality live music outdoors under the stars is a wonderful experience. But they need our support buying tickets to make it happen.

Here's a blog link to the other shows if you want to do some armchair reminiscing.
