Baja Taco Truck, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Owned by a former San Diego man, the Baja Taco food truck offers San Diego-style tacos, tostadas, and burritos to Bostonians.  Today he was setup in the Rose Kennedy Greenway.   The Greenway is downtown open space where once a noisy freeway stood.  The Big Dig relocated that roadway underground.  The Boston Food Truck program is managed by the city and subject to permitting and inspection - it is not just some random folks with big trucks.  There are about 40 different trucks that are located at 20 locations in the city according to a scheduled plan.

Once Upon a Time........

......people would sit out on a public bench and nod or say "hello" to passersby or maybe even have a chat with strangers.  Now it seems that everyone has their face buried in a smartphone.  Progress?

My Favorite Lawnmower, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

This critter is a welcome visitor to my yard.  He lives in the woods somewhere nearby, he comes and goes as he pleases, and he makes no noise ....if I could just get him to eat the leaves from last fall that I never got around to raking up.........

Random Sights, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

A solitary jogger along the plaza of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in downtown Boston.

The lighting in this scene is from a reflection of late afternoon sun off a high rise building near the Prudential Center.

I always wonder where a jet departed and where its going when I observe its contrail. I usually wish I was onboard. As Leonardo DaVinci was reputed to say, " for once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you will long to return."  I'm not sure how he knew that since he died in 1519, hundreds of years before George Cayley, Otto Lilienthal, or the Wright brothers created gliders and airplanes, but I like the quote anyway.

Public Garden, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Boston's Public Garden, created in 1837, was the first public botanical garden in America.  It is directly across the street from the Boston Common which was created in 1634. Although the garden's plantings are beautiful year-around, in spring it explodes with spectacular color and draws many locals and visitors alike.

Strolling the walkways or sitting on a bench in the sun are both popular "activities."

This view is at the western side of the garden looking toward the Commonwealth Avenue mall.

Periodic spritzes during midday help keep the flowers happy.

And the simulated "dewdrops" make for nice photographs.

Even a dog can sit peacefully on the grass and enjoy the spring sunshine as her human chats with a friend.

Love is in the Air, Public Garden, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Those of us of "a certain age" may recall a popular disco song of the late 1970's called "Love is in the Air." It's now another era and another generation but, it's still in the air.

As the famous English poet Alfred, Lord Tennyson, said a century ago: "in the spring a young man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love."  It is a beautiful spring day in Boston.  It is neither too hot nor too cold, neither too windy nor too calm.  It is perfect.

Today's technology gives new meaning to the term, "self-portrait."

And to accompany the perfect weather, an itinerant musician plays and sings songs to the passersby.

Today, everybody smiles in the Boston Public Garden amid the beauty of a spring day.

Beacon Hill, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Acorn street is in the Beacon Hill neighborhood and is reportedly one of  the most photographed streets in Boston.

This view is with brilliant late afternoon light. I think I prefer it when overcast or in twilight and with a wet street and the gaslamps glowing - not that I'm complaining about sunshine on a perfect spring day in Boston. These brick row/townhouses are valued between $2-3 million in 2013 US dollars according to real estate website Zillow.

The beautiful window boxes demonstrate that folks here take these small sidewalk "gardens" very seriously.

Wrought iron railings herald a time gone by when this type of craftsmanship and artistry were more prevalent.

A neighborhood flower shop.  A nice old world feel.

The uneven brick sidewalks are good reason to stroll down the street.  And bright sunlight on a cool spring day is a perfect time for an outing.

A window box with spring reflections in the window.  Some folks say that Boston is the "Charleston of the north," I prefer to think that Charleston is the "Boston of the south."

My Garden, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

Yes, it's true, I have a remarkable green thumb.  Here is an example of my favorite crop for this year's growing season. I'm not just another pretty face, ya know..........I got skills.

I am nurturing these little beauties throughout my yard.........

It is the perfect plant: it requires no effort on my part to make it grow, requires no extra watering nor feeding, comes back every year in greater numbers, spreads easily, makes beautiful yellow flowers, can be eaten in salads, and can be made into wine - what other plant offers all that?  I should have been a farmer - not.

The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

The Mother Church and world headquarters of this Christian religion are located in Back Bay/Downtown Boston.  This prime location 14-acre property also is home to the publishing headquarters of the Christian Science Monitor.  The plaza areas are open to the public for wandering.  It's a beautiful urban setting.

The Romanesque revival architectural style was inspired from classical Roman structures.

Visually striking detail.

Yes, those people were soaking wet on this dark evening with temperature in the 50's.  But they seemed "crazy-in-love" so it didn't much matter.

Fugu Truck, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

The Fugu Truck is one of the hip, gourmet-style food trucks that can be found on the streets of Boston. It appears in certain neighborhoods on planned days to sell its food.  These mobile restaurants are a far cry from the nasty  hot dog and other junk food vendors of yesteryear.  Boston's food trucks represent a vibrant, dynamic food source for residents and tourists alike.  The City of Boston has a formal licensing and inspection program for these restaurants on wheels - and there are many of them.

The name "fugu" is from the famous Japanese blowfish delicacy requiring great skill to prepare since its internal organs are poisonous.
