Wet Concrete, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

If this were an art installation, it might look cool, but it isn't. I am intrigued.  After apparently not seeing the bright orange cones, nor recognizing freshly poured concrete, someone stepped directly into it. Why didn't he stop after the first step - or stumble since his foot sunk deeply - or back up?  It looks like his left footstep is just visible at the left edge. So he made three steps with just his right foot in the concrete.  Was he drunk? stupid? careless? destructive? Maybe all four. And why do I keep using the pronoun "he"?

I guess I'll never know. It is fascinating how the wet concrete swelled up around the footprint - like fresh mud. Too bad it didn't hold him in place so he could be held accountable for willful damage to public property.

So if you've ever wondered what stepping in fresh concrete would look like, now you know.  You don't ever have to do it for yourself.

(This sidewalk section has since been jack-hammered into tiny pieces and replaced. Thanks to our town folks for fixing it).
