"The Wizard of Oz," Dress Rehearsal - (Director Matt), Priscilla Beach Theatre, Priscilla Beach, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

Priscilla Beach Theatre (PBT) recently completed the fifth and final young people's show of the 2017 summer workshop season with two performances of "The Wizard of Oz - Young Performer's Edition." There were two separate casts and productions, one of which was directed by Matt Kurzyniec (pictured above introducing the show) and the other directed by Justin Baret (at this link). Both of these talented young men were concurrently appearing in the sold-out success of "The Producers," on PBT's Barn Stage. You think you have a busy life, these directors spent their days directing the young folks and their evenings performing in "The Producers."

Of course, everyone knows the storyline of "The Wizard of Oz" as "the classic tale of a young girl from Kansas and her journey to and from Oz." (Source: PBT)

Although this show concluded the summer season of young people's workshops, "The Lion King," has recently been announced for the fall!  Come out to PBT and support this valuable resource in our community.

Vegan Pizza, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

I haven't done a vegan food blog in a while so I turned my lunch into a photo shoot. Pizza shell, garlic pasta sauce, carrots, tomatoes, onions, squash, zucchini, broccoli, and cheese-like shreds made without dairy. It was a one-man show but, I did need some help in chopping the broccoli into small pieces.........



.....so I called on a couple lumberjack friends to assist.



This guy didn't do very much work but........



....since he was rockin' the north-woods-flannel-shirt look, I'm glad he stopped by to help.

The Priscilla Beach Theatre (PBT) Summer 2017 Children's Workshop Series has ended with the final performance of "The Wizard of Oz." (A post from the final dress rehearsal will be published soon). To celebrate another successful performance season, PBT owners and guardians Bob and Sandy Malone held a cookout for the cast, crew, and family members. "West Side Story" and "The Producers" were this year's major summer shows performed in July and August respectively and noted in the celebratory cake.

If you haven't made it to a performance yet this year, better hurry to get tickets. For the remaining shows, "All Shook Up," in September and "Little Shop of Horrors," in October, most tickets are sold out already. And don't forget, be ready in early December when next summer's season tickets go on sale!

"Project Arts," Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

For ten weeks during the summer, Plymouth's Project Arts offers free concerts downtown at the outdoor amphitheater near Plymouth Rock in the Pilgrim Memorial State Park. It was another beautiful summer evening in "America's Hometown" for this event. (Click on an image to view a higher resolution version if your device supports that action).



This statue of Pilgrim William Bradford stands tall in the park in the bright afternoon sunshine. He served as Governor of the fledgling colony multiple times in the early/mid-1600's.



Backstage, sort of, the musicians are setting up their equipment.



The stage is set, the crowd trickles in, the food trucks are ready - it's time for live music!



There's not really a bad seat anywhere - since you get to bring your own.







The Mallett Brothers Band took the stage with a rousing set of tunes. Hailing from the State of Maine, this band is always well received. Simply put, these men have been making music all their lives and are really good.



It didn't take long to attract the youngsters to cavort in the grassy open area in front of the stage.































The Little Compton Band from the nearby State of Rhode Island closed out the evening with an equally talented display of musicianship for the appreciative crowd.

Walking back to my car, the high tide had filled the adjacent harbor.



It was another beautiful summer evening in downtown Plymouth - "America's Hometown."
