"Damn Yankees," Dress Rehearsals, Part 1 of 4, Priscilla Beach Theatre, Priscilla Beach, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

Priscilla Beach Theatre (PBT) Owners, Guardians, and Producers Bob and Sandy Malone, recently opened their production of "Damn Yankees" for an eight performance run on the Barn Stage. The Barn Stage, a 240-seat venue, is in its 81st season and is cited as the oldest summer stock barn theatre still operating in America. The original barn was built in 1875. The current owners completed a modernization and renovation effort in 2014-15 and installed new state-of-the-art systems.

This is Part 1 of a four-part series that covers the two final dress rehearsals before opening. This post covers the first part of the first dress rehearsal.

The following images were captured live during a dress rehearsal and are in order of occurrence in the show.  Many images are similar since an individual performer may look better in one image than the other and some performers will use these images to share with family, friends, and/or, to build their resumes. Cast members hail from many parts of the country and bring their extraordinary talents to this venerable theatre. They are a wonderful bunch of talented, trained, spirited, hard-working, aspiring young people and I am happy to be able to support them in this photographic way.

Note: Many of these theatre images, when viewed on a small screen cellphone, may present over-saturated colors. More normal views can be achieved when viewing on a larger laptop or desktop screen.

Plymouth Waterfront Festival, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

A close-up of part of the famous Plymouth Rock - both an historical artifact and a modern day example of effective advertising. 1620 is the year when English settlers arrived in the area in "the New World." This spot in downtown Plymouth where the rock is located serves each summer as the locus for the Waterfront Festival. There are more than 230 artisan and craft booths, food vendors, live entertainment, a car show,  and a rubber duckie race in the Town Brook. The festival is free to the public.

It is peaceful along the Town Brook now but, soon it will be swarming with yellow duckies for the annual race. In the distance, some of the vendor tents are visible along Water Street which is closed for the event along the waterfront in downtown Plymouth.

There was wonderful live music by various performers throughout the day and at different locations near the waterfront. This performer was on the main stage in the Brewster Gardens.

Weather-wise, it was a perfect New England summer day in"America's Hometown."

This was a panorama and the people were moving so it creates the choppy effect. Oddly, I like it.

It was very well attended, lots of vendors, food sellers, and my favorite product....... a sweatshirt.

I was going to buy this on the way back to the car so I didn't have to carry it around as I was walking - but I forgot.

At the Beach, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

It's about 125 wooden steps to walk down to the bottom of the bluff and be on the beach. It is always worth it - even the return trip back up all those steps. (And yes, I made the horizon purposefully crooked).

Although sometimes there are more people out and about, it is not a very crowded beach even on a busy day.  Access is limited and there are neither parking lots nor lifeguards nor visitor services available.

Regardless the season, it sure is beautiful. What is it about the sea that so entrances us humans?

A Passing Summer Storm, Bartlett Pond, White Horse Beach, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

Seems that this summer we have enjoyed more than a few passing storms dropping gallons of life giving water on the lush New England countryside.

It's been a good summer for nearly all living things.
