This juvenile red-shouldered hawk landed on a tall dead tree trunk about 30 feet outside my window. He stuck around a few minutes for me to take pictures from inside the house through the glass.
But, I think he caught me watching.
He was chased away moments after this image by smaller birds dive-bombing and attacking him as he sat. Must be a tough life being a fearsome raptor - always picked on by smaller more nimble birds.
