Lowell, Massachusetts, USA

Boardinghouse Park is the scene of a Summer Music Series. Summer of 2010 featured such greats as Taj Mahal Trio, Jimmy Cliff, Joan Armatrading, Indigo Girls, Herbie Hancock, Jonathan Edwards, B-52's, and many others. Notice the many graying heads of the audience. Just like mine.

Behind the stage is the still standing brick structure of the Boott Mills from the great textile era of the 19th and early 20th century industrial Massachusetts. The mill is reborn today as lofts/condos and apartments on the Merrimack River.

White Horse Beach, Massachusetts, USA

Although the water is New England cold even on a hot day, this undeveloped-no services-no restrooms-almost no parking beach is much as it's been for thousands of years - just plain beautiful.

Lowell, Massachusetts, USA

Lowell, Massachusetts on the Merrimack River was "the" American industrial powerhouse during the 19th century. Today, it annually hosts the largest free Folk Festival in the United States each July. Otherwise throughout the Summer months, weekly concerts are held outdoors where folks bring there own chairs and enjoy music under the stars.

Parks, statues and monuments abound in the downtown area of Washington, DC, the permanent capital of the United States. It is a federal district not a part of any state.

Cape May, New Jersey, USA

A view of Cape May State Park from the top of the lighthouse. At center-right just above the parking lot is the famous Hawk Watch Platform, a gathering site for birders worldwide during fall migration season.

San Clemente, California, USA

A town of uncommon delight in coastal southern California: San Clemente is located halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego and has a quaint downtown, spanish styled whitewashed buildings, and beautiful surf and sun beaches - and don't forget that nearly perfect weather.

Manomet, Massachusetts, USA

A perfect spring day on Bartlett Pond in Manomet, Massachusetts. Manomet is a seaside village of Plymouth, "America's hometown." It is infamous for its annual bonfires, fireworks, and rowdy youth on White Horse Beach on the evening of July 3rd.

Manomet, Massachusetts, USA

Early evening calm settles over Bartlett Pond on a perfect spring day. Cape Cod Bay is visible on the distant horizon. Seems like a great spot for my retirement location.
