Walking About, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

I like the sentiment but, I can hear my English teachers from my early school years saying, "don't say 'drive slow,' say 'drive slowly' - slowly is an adverb and must have the -ly ending." In today's world, however, "slow" seems to have become acceptable - except to curmudgeons like me.

Azaleas bloom in front of the Idlewild on Manomet bluff. Built in 1876 as a hotel, it is now a summer or special occasion rental.  They have their own stairway to the beach for guests.  President Grover Cleveland and writer Nathaniel Hawthorne are among their former guests.

Spring is rapidly filling out the leaves.

I have often reported on the abundance of wildlife in Manomet.  Here, I was very lucky to capture this flamingo, not a native to the area, drinking from a birdbath. Go figure.

The home renovation/add-on project I was following during the past winter is mostly complete on the exterior.  All it needs is landscaping.  The interior work is still on-going. It is impressive how well a crew of skilled craftsmen can blend together the old and new.

A beautiful design.  Once the cedar shingles weather and fade to gray, the house will look as if it has always been that way.

If you doubt the power of nature, storms, and waves, keep in mind that a tennis court once existed between the house and the edge of the bluff.
