Mayflower II, Homecoming, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

The Mayflower II has entered the Plymouth Harbor on its return voyage home after winter in drydock in Mystic, Connecticut.  (I was standing near the public boat ramp, it was too far away for a good sharp image so, I doctored it up by removing the color and adding textures to hide the flaws and give it an old-time look).

The tugboat Jaguar is on the far side of Mayflower II pushing her along. And yes, she is moving backwards through the harbor - that's to make it easier to dock at the pier. (The white sand background is on the end of Long Beach.

Weaving through the inner harbor, Jaguar pushes her steadily towards the pier.

Hundreds gathered on land nearby to welcome her home.

And they packed the pier to see her up close as she docked.

These two Wampanoag Native Americans were also in close proximity to welcome her back to Plymouth. The Wampanoag tribe inhabited this area when the pilgrims landed here in 1620.

Watching the final docking maneuvers.

Moments away from arrival.

A crew member on Jaguar monitors closely as the Mayflower II is gently moved the final few feet to her pier.

The tug Jaguar and the Harbormaster's boat hold the Mayflower II in place while the dock crew secures the lines. The Mayflower II will be open for tours in just a few days.

Not everyone was as interested in the Mayflower II as they were this goat who accompanied a pair of period re-enactors from the Plymouth Plantation.  Plymouth - America's Hometown - is a great place to live and/or visit.
