"Sisters of Swing," Final Tech/Dress Rehearsal, Priscilla Beach Theatre (PBT), Priscilla Beach, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

Priscilla Beach Theatre (PBT) Owners and Guardians Bob and Sandy Malone, opened the 2022 Performance Season with, "Sisters of Swing," on the Barn Stage for an eight-performance run from April 29th through May 7th. It's the story of the Andrews Sisters - a singing trio who took the world by storm during the second World War with their close harmonies and musical prowess. They sold tens of millions of recordings.

These moments were captured during the final dress/tech rehearsal before opening night.

Cast and crew pose for a portrait after their final rehearsal. For more details, come to PBT - it's all in the show's Playbill for your reading pleasure.

The PBT Barn Stage, a 240-seat venue, is in its 84th season and is cited as the oldest summer stock barn theatre still operating in America. The original barn was built in 1875. The current owners, Bob and Sandy Malone, completed a modernization and renovation effort in 2014-15 installing first-class sound and lighting systems, and new cushy seats for patrons. You can't beat the quality and intimacy of the productions here!

Out and About, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Spring is springing on the Boston Common........

And in the Public Garden........

Where tulips are starting to bloom......

And the flowering trees are budding out....

And the swan boats are full of passengers once again......

Silently cruising the lagoon with their quiet pedal power.....

Spring is always such a treat after the previous winter!

On the Rose Kennedy Greenway, my always favorite outdoor building mural changes regularly throughout the year.

Ah, Boston............as fine a city as anywhere in the world.

Spring - Out and About, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

What's more spring-like than the opening of the Boston Common Frog Pond carousel! This is my attempt at an artsy image that suggests the motion.

And speaking of an artsy image, I wandered by the "Daffodils" art installation in the Seaport District when the wind was blowing strong and caught a few of them fully inflated.

Over in the Public Garden, nature's art in the form of tulips are starting to bloom.

The lagoon in the Public Garden has been refilled and the Swan Boats are at the ready to give rides to  tourists.

The pedal-powered Swan Boats are a quiet way to cruise around and see some sights in the Public Garden. The calendar may say spring but, the passengers look dressed for winter.

Near Faneuil Hall, this row of restaurants is getting ready for al fresco dining on their outdoor patios. These outdoor dining options became popular during the last few years during the pandemic.  Not without some controversy, private business using public space has generated concerns for some.

Out and About, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Springtime is here as this art installation by Brooklyn artist Daniele Frazier in Boston's Seaport District illustrates. These wind-sock-like daffodils inflate and dance around in the breeze.

On the Boston Common, this young artist regularly has folks lined up to have him draw their portrait - $1 each. People stand in line for quite a while waiting for their turn. He's quite engaging. He does pen and ink drawings on index sized cards. It's definitely "a thing."

Otherwise, a good day to stroll on the Common.

Or see the beginning signs of spring in the Public Garden.

The Boston Tea Party ship is welcoming tourists, some.........

......enjoy participating in a simulation of the Boston Tea Party protest of 1773 by throwing boxes of tea overboard into the water. (Not to worry - they are on ropes and are each retrieved from the water afterwards).

This look at downtown from the Seaport District has become an iconic view of this fine city of Boston.

I always enjoy the architecture that mixes new and old. Boston is a world class city - and I can visit without getting on an airplane!

Out and About, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Walking the dog on the Boston Common, the classic brick townhouses line Beacon Street in the background. Still chilly but, many folks have put away their gloves, hats, and scarves for the season.

The theatre district is quiet on this Sunday morning.

Strolling along a path on the Boston Common.

A quiet protest in front of the State House about the current situation in Sri Lanka.

Out and About, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

I enjoy sharing a space with a bird of prey. I don't know when he will next appear, or where, but he (or she or offspring) comes back year after year, plucking meals that scurry around oblivious to the talons about to descend from above.

The first spring daffodils appear.

This tree barely hangs on at the water's edge with roots reaching back into the bank for stability and nourishment.

Ever so slowly, boats are appearing in their slips as winter gives way to spring.

Some are still waiting to launch after their winter on dry land.

Burial Hill in downtown Plymouth - some of the original members of the Plymouth Colony are buried here. The cemetery has been in use since 1680.

"Eileen Ivers," Spire Center for Performing Arts, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

The Spire Center for Performing Arts welcomed fiddler Eileen Ivers and her band for a night of Irish music at Plymouth's premier live music venue.

Lots of hand-clapping and sing-alongs for the crowd. What a rousing night!

The Spire Center for Performing Arts opened in 2014 in an 1886 former church building and is located in downtown Plymouth. The facility can seat about 220 on the main floor and another 50 in the balcony. They offer shows throughout the year nearly every Friday and Saturday on the main stage, a smaller Lobby Series on Thursdays, and additional main stage shows occasionally on other days of the week throughout the year. It is an intimate space where there is no bad seat in the house and features a first class sound and lighting system to enhance the patron experience.
