Out and About on a Fine Spring Day, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

It was one of those perfect Boston days. Storm clouds gone, a light breeze, and a perfect temperature to be active out and about.

Sidewalk planters are back in bloom after the long winter.

Trees blossom in this small oasis in the Financial District.

The sky is spectacularly reflected in an all-glass building exterior.

Tourists and residents alike were out enjoying the fine day in the Public Garden.

The tulips in the Public Garden have given way to the next round of flowers.

It was a good day for exercise on the Boston Common.......

....or just running across the grass, arms flailing with abandon.

This was the one that got away. I am lucky there was a long waiting line, otherwise, I might have succumbed to the temptation - an ice cream sandwich using thick rich chocolate cookies as the sandwich part with your favorite scoop of ice cream in between. I saw a stranger eating one and wanted to ask her for a bite but, public decorum prevented me.  A friendly old man in a hat can get away with some things but, probably not that.

In the northeast corner of the Boston Common, with the Park Street Church in the background, these men stand up for their beliefs. The 50-acre Boston Common is the oldest city park in the United States (since 1634) and a popular spot for protests, concerts, sports, ice skating, and just hanging out. The Park Street Church, built in 1809, was reportedly the tallest building in the United States in the early 1800's.

Here's a Google map with the Boston Common and Public Garden at center for orientation.

Elsewhere, these soldier models pose with a tourist.

This a cappella group performs on a sidewalk in Downtown Crossing.

The sidewalk cafe season is underway, in this case, at the pedestrian-only area of Downtown Crossing.

I'm not looking for a job but, this ad seemed like a good approach to running a business: work hard, have fun, wear jeans, learn a lot, and really grow. Seems like a good recipe. (And I like their food).

Life is good in the world-class city of Boston.
