"Charlie and Allison's Wedding," Priscilla Beach Theatre, Priscilla Beach, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

The Priscilla Beach Theatre (PBT) roadside sign always carries announcements about the upcoming show. I suspect many passersby over the recent week must have wondered about this entry since they had not ever heard of a Broadway show called "Charlie and Allison's Wedding."

It looks like a regular show announcement - but it's not - it's a REAL LIFE wedding!

Vows were exchanged on the PBT Barn Stage before a crowd of family and friends and then the event moved outside to the reception area under the white tents and the adjacent PBT Outdoor Pavilion which sheltered the band and dance floor.

I am at that age in life when invitations to weddings are few and far between so I was especially delighted to attend the magical wedding of Allison and Charlie at one of my favorite places in the world, the Priscilla Beach Theatre campus.

These are not the official photographs for the event - there was a  professional photographer on hand to capture those moments.  This is my typical blogger's point-and-shoot perspective.

It turns out that PBT is a great venue for a wedding - as an addition to its primary role as a host of great theatrical performances.  Hmmmm?

But on to the big event!...........

The officiant and the groom are ready on stage. The crowd stands, heads turned toward the center aisle, awaiting the rest of the bridal party.

The bridesmaids make their way down the aisle to the stage.

I have captured tens of thousands of images on this theatre campus over the past four years but, no event more delightful and joyous than this wedding.

This wasn't a stage performance although vows were exchanged on the Barn Stage and the Outdoor Pavilion served as the setting for the reception and dance floor. This was the real thing: two people pledging their love and desire to share their journey together through this life.

There are parallels to a stage performance. There is a rhythm to a wedding - it is a living, moving, shifting, emotional passage of time with sequential acts. An event where the hopes and dreams and aspirations of the betrothed come together with friends and family to celebrate the joining of two hearts and souls in a commitment to build their life together.

The bride and father of the bride approach the stage.

The ceremony begins.

The bridesmaids.

The groomsmen.

Vows completed and the rings exchanged - the official pronouncement of Mr. and Mrs.

The newlyweds.

Mother and father of the bride.

The ceremony and formal photographs have been completed and the bridal party moves from the theatre to the reception area in this and the following images.

The first dance for the new couple.

The bridal party joins in on the dance floor.

This band provided the music.

Under the tent, the couple makes the rounds of the tables greeting the guests.

The father of the bride offers remarks - remarks that were tinged with a combination of love and wistfulness and remembrance about his first born. His anecdotes and stories of Allison's youth brought down the house.

Even the bride enjoyed the stories.......

....as did her entire bridal party.

The talking all done, it was time for the dancing to resume in earnest.

And what better way to liven up a dance floor than having theatre folks around - they can always be counted on to add life and enthusiasm to any moment.

Congratulations to Charlie and Allison! May you share a life of joy and love and wonder in your future years together.
