Harborfest, Project Arts of Plymouth, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

It was a beautiful summer day in Plymouth, "America's Hometown."  Unfortunately, though, it was brutally hot and humid and kept attendance down for the annual Harborfest.

This annual event is sponsored by Project Arts of Plymouth who also sponsor weekly free summer concerts on the waterfront on Wednesday evenings.

The festive tents of the vendors are seen in the distance past the memorial monument at right that houses the famous Plymouth Rock. The tide is very low which when high, laps at the base of the rock itself.

The vendors are ready although attendance was light in the middle of the afternoon due to the heat.

Free live music was featured all day long in the nearby amphitheater.

I didn't see quite as many food vendors as in past years but, the usual kettle corn and lemonade booth stood ready to serve.

Nearby, tourists stand and pose for the obligatory portrait with the Mayflower II in the background. The Mayflower II is a reproduction of the vessel that, in 1620, brought  the Pilgrims from England to begin life in the New World.
