Plymouth Annual Christmas Tree Lighting, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

Plymouth's annual Christmas tree lighting and 5K footrace through town enjoyed a perfect late fall evening. Folks turned out in droves and started gathering early in Town Square awaiting Santa's arrival, the lighting of the tree, and the footrace, among other events.

The vendor's carts were loaded and ready with the usual array of flashing lights and soft cuddly things.

Many racers waited at Town Square for the lighting ceremony before heading to S. Russell Street for the race start.

As hundreds of folks pressed in close, the tree was lit!

Much of the crowd then wandered down Main Street to the finish line at the intersection with North Street. I think the two tutu wearers were racers.

Moments before the first racers cross the finish line, folks are still ambling down the middle of Main Street.

I don't know how many racers there were in total but, I watched hundreds cross the finish line to the sound of the cheering crowd. The event is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Plymouth.

Elsewhere, holiday decorations adorn many local homes for the season. Life is good in Plymouth - America's Hometown.
