Train Tracks, Sandwich, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA

I've always liked this location in Sandwich on the way to their beach boardwalk. These train tracks are part of a small web that traverse Cape Cod. Various train trips are offered by the The Cape Cod Central Railroad. I think it is more about entertainment than transportation - they offer a shoreline excursion train, dinner train, lunch train, supper train, beer tasting train, fireworks train, Christmas train, etc.

I am intrigued by the wording on this sign - I don't know why a man would be on the side of the car but, it is obviously the wrong place to be - not to mention the mental image it conjures up.

The tracks head off to the east of Sandwich through the typical pitch pine and scrub oak forests.

This hefty piece of iron is part of the simple design that allows two tracks to merge into one - no moving parts (except the train).

I remember as a kid putting pennies on a train track for a passing train to crush them into a flat disc of copper. I wonder if kids do that anymore?

A similar view from a previous visit in fall.
