After the Storm, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

Now that Hurricane Sandy has passed, the only visible signs are extra branches and tree debris beside the roads and in yards.  We were so fortunate here that the damage was not greater.  So many people, particularly in New Jersey and New York, have had their entire lives changed irrevocably by this storm. I am reminded of all the other major natural events that strike around the world - typhoons, hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis.  Many people will take years to recover and some will never recover from the impact.  It is a sobering thought, the fine line that separates normal life from disaster.
