Boston Marathon, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

The logistics for this event are staggering. Support services are provided by the many yellow-jacketed volunteers. Stacks of heat-reflective blankets are ready to be distributed to each competitor shortly after crossing the finish line - there were 25,000+ of them.

There are many yellow-jacketed volunteers who contribute the person-power to make this event happen. I am not a runner but, the effort to manage a 25,000 participant event doesn't happen by chance. So much good going on by people who contribute their time and work.

The volunteers were ever-ready to provide support to the runners immediately past the finish line.

On a perfect spring day in Boston, it was an exuberant crowd cheering in waves as the runners arrived at the finish line - after completing a 26+ mile run in one of the world's most renowned events. We were stacked in pretty thick on the sidewalks along this stretch of Boylston Street very near the race finish line.
