"The Addams Family (1)," Final Tech/Dress Rehearsals, Priscilla Beach Theatre (PBT), Priscilla Beach, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

Priscilla Beach Theatre (PBT) Owners and Guardians Bob and Sandy Malone, will open their final performance of the 2021 Season, "The Addams Family," on the Barn Stage for an eight-performance run from October 1st through October 8th. It's an original story and ultimate dilemma of a grown-up Wednesday Addams who has fallen in love with a “normal” boy who is invited to their home to meet her family.

The PBT Barn Stage, a 240-seat venue, is in its 83rd season and is cited as the oldest summer stock barn theatre still operating in America. The original barn was built in 1875. The current owners, Bob and Sandy Malone, completed a modernization and renovation effort in 2014-15.

Tickets are available online at pbtheatre.org or by phone at 508-224-4888.

Out and About - Boston, Massachusetts, USA

A rolling cart vendor beside Fort Point Channel. Note the long shadows at midday.

I enjoy strolling by this spot under the Seaport Avenue bridge over Fort Point Channel - I usually find the lighting ethereal.

Rowe's Wharf looking eastward over the Boston Harbor toward the airport.

All the green is part of the Rose Kennedy Greenway. It was formerly an interstate multi-lane highway on the surface racing through downtown and making a horrible nuisance.

On this day, it hosted a food festival.

Lots of different cuisines and products and people.

It was a perfect end of summer day - clear skies, light wind, and a 72 degree F temperature.

I always get a kick out of the shrieking children frolicking in this fountain.

At the vent building, the latest mural looks like this. I enjoy the contrast and scale of the young soccer ball player against the mural and adjacent building.

Inbound car traffic was very slow so I decided spontaneously to take the subway from Quincy Adams instead. It was one of those trips I should have planned more thoughtfully. Sometimes, sections of the subway lines are closed on weekends for maintenance on a particular section. At those times, everyone must disembark at a particular station, (in this case inbound at JFK), ride a bus waiting outside, then re-board the subway (in this case inbound at Broadway) and continue onward. It was efficient and well-managed but, still tedious and not as easy as simply riding a single train into town. The same routine played outbound.

Regardless, it was a spectacular day to enjoy the world-class city of Boston!

Out and About - Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

This little fawn is getting bigger all the time and the spots are starting to fade.

I don't often see this Great Blue Heron with open bill unless he's grabbing a frog snack.

I think this is a technique to reduce reflection on the water surface to see the frogs underneath.

About 100 feet off screen to the left of one of my favorite trees is the ocean.

A late summer day at the beach.

The days are noticeably shorter and cooler - another New England sunny summer of lounging on a warm beach coming to an end.

Speaking of sunny summer, this fake one is in my home and is in bloom every day of the year.

At the Tidmarsh Audubon Sanctuary in Manomet, the hint of fall colors has begun.

Also at Tidmarsh, the explosion of goldenrod marks the beginning of fall.

And when Priscilla Beach Theatre is dark, I find attending live musical performances at the Spire Center for Performing Arts in downtown Plymouth is always a great alternate activity.

As befitting the show and the upcoming season, I thought I'd include this slightly spooky and foreboding sky image.

The Barn Stage, a 240-seat venue, is in its 83rd season and is cited as the oldest summer stock barn theatre still operating in America. The original barn was built in 1875. The current owners, Bob and Sandy Malone, completed a modernization and renovation effort in 2014-15.

An interior view during a previous full house performance. The converted 1875 barn is now a state-of-the-art modern, comfortable, and well-equipped performing arts theatre - right here in our local neighborhood!

A more traditional view of the theatre. Please come out and support the performing arts in our community. Your attendance is what keeps this venue alive and thriving.

Some seats are still available at their website, https://www.pbtheatre.org/ , or by calling 508-224-4888.
