Plymouth Harbor, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

The statue which honors Chief Massasoit of the Wampanoag tribe, stands in quiet silhouette atop Cole's hill in Plymouth overlooking the harbor.

A few boats remain at dock but, within days they will all be gone, the electric hook-ups removed, and the silence and stillness of the coming winter will be complete.

"Another Tequila Sunrise," Spire Center for Performing Arts, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

The Spire Center for Performing Arts in Plymouth recently welcomed the Eagles tributes band, "Another Tequila Sunrise," to their stage for a rousing and successful performance. This band has been touring for the past 15 years or so and playing to appreciative crowds.

So, maybe they are a little long in the tooth - so am I - so is the audience - get over it.

That's the nature of a tribute band.

"Oh, Beautiful for Spacious Skies...," Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

Oh, beautiful for spacious skies (White Horse Beach)......

.....for amber waves of grain (Tidmarsh Wildlife Sanctuary).....

Nothing like a sunny, breezy, cool, late fall day to highlight the beauty and wonder of life here on this part of the planet.

Tidmarsh Wildlife Santuary, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

Gray, gray, and more gray.

After vigorous wind and rainstorms, few leaves remain. Winter draws nearer. The good news is that the days start getting longer in just a few weeks.

Blue Hour and Beyond, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

A wander through part of Boston in late afternoon/ early evening light, aka "the blue hour."

My purpose in being downtown on a weekday evening was to see a theatrical performance. Not at the Paramount but, it's exterior is more photogenic than the Opera House next door where I was.

The Opera House is just stunning inside. Since its opening in 1928, it has served as a vaudeville house, a movie house, an opera house, a ballet house, and host to touring Broadway productions.

I was there to see, "Come From Away," a story about how the Gander, Newfoundland community (population 10,000) rose to the challenge to host more than 7,000 uninvited, unexpected, tired, hungry, scared guests on 9/11/01 when the United States closed its airspace following the terrorist attacks and many flights already enroute had to divert to other destinations. This small community's response was a tribute to the best in humanity.

Seeing this show filled in a wonderful and humanizing narrative in my own life experience from that day/week.

Manomet Beach, Fall, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

Although a touch of color remains, there is definitely the hint and scent in the air of the coming winter.

I welcome it - at least in the beginning .........

John Sebastian, Spire Center for Performing Arts, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

The Spire Center for Performing Arts in downtown Plymouth welcomed singer/songwriter, guitarist, harmonicist, and autoharpist John Sebastian to its stage.  He is a founder of  The Lovin' Spoonful, he appeared at Woodstock in 1969, and he created the 1976 hit, "Welcome Back."

He is a master storyteller and entertained a rapt audience for a lengthy no-intermission solo set.

It was a great night out - he is a warm, personable, and friendly man who mixed readily and enjoyably with folks both before, during and after the show. A remarkable evening at the Spire once again!

Fall, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

The last wind and rain storm has just about ended the fall color.

Except one last colorful holdout on the far side....

Half dead and leaning sideways but, still radiant. I hope that can be said about me in my future old age years.

Dogs in Costume, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Why is this dog dressed up like this?......... (And yes, some of you may note he is my kindred spirit if you attended the Priscilla Beach Theatre production of "Hairspray" in summer 2019).

.....because he's about to compete........

.....along with many other pooches and their obsessed owners.

It's a good thing dogs don't seem to understand embarrassment.

And no, I don't know what this one is supposed to be.

This one is Buzz Lightyear. To infinity and beyond!

A Chinese dragon of some type.

Not in the dog parade but, costumed nonetheless. These three folks stopped to check out the dogs  while they were on their way to a different costume pub crawl.

Out and About, Fall, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

This is perhaps my final fall trip into Boston before the leaves are down, the colors gone, and winter gray sets in. These golden trees in Post Office Square are still stunning in the early sun - well, actually it's not that early but the sun angle is low in early afternoon. Remember, in just six weeks or so, the days start getting longer again!

This is in the Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall area. I especially enjoy being out and about in Boston on a weekend or holiday. Sure, it's more crowded but, I see many more wide-eyed, smiling tourist faces enchanted by their surroundings than the more rushed, hurrying from place to place looks of locals. Locals seem to be in a hurry - faces down in their smartphones - ear buds in their ears - purpose in their step - engaged in their own private world - tourists seem more interested in what's happening outside their own heads. (Just an opinion, not necessarily accurate).

The Old Custom House tower reaches up into the sky.

Over in the Public Garden, families young and old are posing for pictures around the lagoon beneath the spread wings of stately old trees.

Or walking dogs or sitting on park benches just breathing the cool air.

The bridge over the lagoon in the Public Garden.

A sky that looks like it was painted with purpose.

And heading back through the Boston Common, I pass the Arepas and Lemonade carts. I see arepa carts in many areas in my travels - it makes me wonder if they are all part of an international cabal to supplant the hot dog or sausage cart of yesteryear. Ah, but my mind wanders - as do I.........
