Lifeguard Towers, Maimi Beach, Florida, USA

Like much of Miami Beach, the lifeguard towers are bold, colorful, functional, decorative, and unusual.

Not staffed with lifeguards at sunrise, regular folks just hang out and enjoy the first rays of the day.

A nice place to enjoy the sunrise and a cup of coffee/tea/cocoa/scotch. And it is almost high enough to be called a mountaintop view in flat Florida - well, not really.

This one looks like a recreational vehicle camper on skids instead of wheels. These lifeguard stands fit right into the art deco architectural style so popular in this city. Morning temperatures have been in the low seventies Fahrenheit - my kind of weather.

The only disadvantage to being here now is that I miss the New England Patriots celebration and rally being held today in Boston to give fans an opportunity to see and acknowledge the athletes for their Super Bowl victory. Go Pats!
