New Year's Day Beach Walk, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

New Year's Day in Manomet is often cold - bitter cold sometimes - but not this year! It felt like a summer day it was so warm. Okay, that's a gross exageration but, it was up to 47 degrees F under sunny skies with light wind.

It was a perfect day for a vigorous 4-mile walk to start the year off right. The light was wonderful at some of my favorite sights like this bluff top home overlooking Cape Cod Bay.

And my favorite bench at the adjacent overlook looked good, too.

The incoming tide and sun angle made beautiful silver bays between the jetties.

And of course, my favorite spooky tree looked great standing in silhouette against the low winter sun.

Starting a new year gives me pause to thank you readers all over the world who enjoy seeing and reading this blog. I know there are many online attractions and I appreciate you choosing to visit here. I published 322 posts this past year and reached half a million total views - again, thanks for following along with me!

  1. Yes there are many other on line attractions, however, your blog is one of the few that I appreciate most due to the fact of it’s beautiful simplicity. ‘Tis true that “ less is more”, much, much more than the many. Many of us like the very much the pace of your which gives I’m sure, many the sensation of actually being in attendance with you. Then there is the time of year when you give us a burst of a treat and take us on a beautifully shared trip with you and Amy. Can barely wait to see where we all go this year.

Good health to you and Amy.

May you, Amy and Ian live long and prosper in all you desire.

  2. Forgot to mention of how that house overlooking Cape Cod Bay reminds me of the story; ‘The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.’ I can imagine the ghost of Captain Daniel Gregg standing on the attached pergola, (?) nostalgically looking out and longing to be sailing on the seas again.
