This is one of my favorite signs in the world. A designation by a governmental authority that particular pieces of real estate have been protected and set aside for conservation for the present and the future; for the enjoyment of all the people into perpetuity.

In this case, it is Rabbit Pond, a freshwater pond in Manomet. I don't often walk there but in the fall its pull on me is magnetic. (It is a walking destination as there is nowhere to park a car).
There are no homes directly on the waterfront since the entire perimeter is conservation land. But as the leaves fall, the homes that do surround the pond become visible.

It's a great choice of destination for a walk and it's also only a quarter mile from the ocean.

The unpaved road that surrounds it is more aptly called a narrow track.

On this fall day the sun streams beautifully through the canopy of changing leaves.

Parts of the canopy are still green.....

.....and other parts have turned a deep red-orange.

It's peaceful and refreshing - a nice canvas to see nature in all its beauty.
