Independence Day Parade, America's Hometown, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

A perfect summer day welcomed the annual Independence Day Parade to downtown Plymouth where the red, white, and blue was everywhere.

This view of the parade route is near the end where Main Street turns onto Water Street and the reviewing stand.

There were classic old cars..........

..........and a car dressed up like a dog.......

.....and a tractor......

.....and motorcycles......

.....and old style bicycles......

.....and new style bicycles, too.......

........and red, white, and blue hats.......

.........and red, white, and blue outfits.......

.....and a group promoting the upcoming 400th anniversary of the pilgrims landing in Plymouth......

....and a throw back 1980's music float........

.......and a marching band in skin tight attire.....

.....with bright and shiny instruments......

.....even a tuba suitable for a selfie, sort-of......

.........and even a little horse.  There were many other participants including the glad-handing politicians, firetrucks with deafening sirens wailing, and various sports teams.  Clearly though, my favorite was.......

..... the Priscilla Beach Theatre entourage led by owner and guardian Bob Malone (above) driving their iconic restored 1937 pickup truck - 1937 being the year the theatre first opened for business.

Following behind the 1937 truck, owner and guardian Sandy Malone led the entourage of actors, actresses, and staff along the parade route.

Many of the folks in the red shirts are members of the cast of "A Chorus Line," which opens at the Priscilla Beach Theatre (PBT) on July 7th for a 14-show run. It's mostly sold out already but you can contact PBT online or by phone at 508-224-4888 for tickets and info.

As the entourage began the descent down Main Street to the final leg on Water Street and the reviewing stand, I headed back home out of the heat and bright sun.

Parades only happen twice a year - but Priscilla Beach Theatre offers world-class performances for both children and adults from May through October at their newly renovated 240-seat venue on their performing arts campus in Priscilla Beach.  Give them a call or visit online (contact PBT online or by phone at 508-224-4888) for your tickets - enjoy the ambiance of live theatre in this 80-year-old iconic piece of Americana.
