Barga, Lucca, Tuscany, Italy

Barga flows across a mountainside about 35 km/21mi north of Lucca. Its roots go back more than a thousand years.  The town hosts both an annual jazz festival and an opera festival.

A part of town stretches off on this narrow mountain spur.

The craggy vistas are suggestive of the mountains of Scotland. (Panorama - click on image to view full width.)

This local resident was keeping a close eye on his hens as he followed them around the yard while they were pecking and scratching for food.

Carvings in the local church.

A well-placed bench in the south facing sunlight.
