Follow the Tree-lined Road, Maincy, Île-de-France, France

Driving through the countryside near Melun late in the day with glorious light, clouds, and sunshine, the sight of an arrow straight, tree-lined road brought me to a screeching halt like any ill-mannered tourist would do. Where could such an obvious well-planned, grand statement lead? So, a quick u-turn and off to find out.

It turns out that at the end of the trees was the driveway to Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, a baroque-styled French château. It was too late in the day to visit - perhaps another time?........

  1. Love those tree lined roads. So many of them.

    1. It sure takes vision to plant trees like that knowing you will not live to see them mature.
