Boston's Public Garden, created in 1837, was the first public botanical garden in America. It is directly across the street from the Boston Common which was created in 1634. Although the garden's plantings are beautiful year-around, in spring it explodes with spectacular color and draws many locals and visitors alike.
Strolling the walkways or sitting on a bench in the sun are both popular "activities."
This view is at the western side of the garden looking toward the Commonwealth Avenue mall.
Periodic spritzes during midday help keep the flowers happy.
And the simulated "dewdrops" make for nice photographs.
Even a dog can sit peacefully on the grass and enjoy the spring sunshine as her human chats with a friend.
