Out and About - Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

One of the things I like about the greater Plymouth area is the mix of rural and developed. Above, a local fawn continues to grow beside the example of mother doe at a small pond in Manomet.

And no wonder they startle at the slightest out of the ordinary sound!

At the same pond, this sun-dappled Red-shouldered Hawk keeps a watchful eye for food.

A larger than life chipmunk posing with the cast of the upcoming Priscilla Beach Theatre (PBT) production of "The Wonderettes: Caps and Gowns," eight performances September 3-11. See the PBT website at this link for tickets.

Barrence Whitfield, the frontman for this rousing soul/R&B quintet, brought down the house at this concert at the Spire Center for Performing Arts in Plymouth.

The Project Arts Plymouth waterfront summer weekly outdoor concert series featured John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band on this particular evening.

Sunflowers, Tangerini's Farm, Millis, Massachusetts, USA

It's been about a month since my first visit to the Tangerini Farm sunflower field and wow, am I glad I went back.

There were even more flowers, taller, and more bees enjoying the treats.

It's an unusual situation to be among so many bees actively gathering pollen.

If you walk to the end of the field rows......

.....you will find dozens of hive boxes where the bees call home.

I didn't mind them and they didn't seem to mind me.

And there are thousands of them buzzing around.

It was a beautiful summer afternoon to visit.

And not everything is yellow.

It's a pretty special special place to wander a while on a stunning New England summer day.

Summer on the Charles River, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Having a major river that flows through downtown, the Charles, affords residents and visitors alike the opportunity for a fine place to sail or kayak. The major universities - Harvard, Boston University, MIT, and others - have their own facilities riverside, too. This vantage point is called Community Boating and is located near the MGH Redline MBTA stop.

A nice place to spend a summer.......

A Warm Breeze, White Horse Beach, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

What a difference a day makes. It was much warmer than my previous post. Folks were out in force to enjoy the day.

Maybe our New England summers only last about 10 weeks or so but, they sure are nice when they are happening.

A Cool Breeze, White Horse Beach, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

It was 70 degrees F with a cool breeze blowing.

It's my preferred kind of beach weather - I stay covered up and the beach is generally uncrowded.

There was one other person here with me - but she seemed to be on her phone most of the time. Me, I'd rather listen to the rhythm of the crashing waves.

Critters at Dawn, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

Fawn and mom usually stick to the shadows and edges of the foliage in order to hide and escape quickly. They are early risers. I don't usually see them in bright direct sunlight later in the day.

The fawn is getting bigger and bolder and now moves away from mom sometimes to forage on her own.

But then, the first rays of morning sun break through the trees and catch them for just a moment before they disappear off into the woods.

So too, the turkey family is caught in the early morning light.

And the red-shouldered hawk perches on a fallen tree looking for food.

And off he flies in a blur of motion- just another summer morning in Manomet.
