Thoughts on Inventory, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

Selling clothing retail must be a tough business. Countless stores like these throughout the world have to buy inventory, then hope the shoppers come in, like it and buy it; then, at the end of the season the stores have to sell what's left likely at a loss; then, next season, bring in a new inventory and repeat the whole process - seems a lot risky and mighty challenging.

On the other hand, if one were in the rock-selling business, the inventory almost never changes, the inventory doesn't degrade (except over eons of time), and it can be stored outside in any weather.
I think I'd rather be in the rock-selling business - just a thought.

  1. Sure make a great point. Even with a top inventory management software it still is risky trying to figure out how much to order, and then have to worry about selling the leftovers @ a potential loss. On the other hand, I'm sure there are more prospective buyers for clothes & trinkets than rocks :)
