Although the water is New England cold even on a hot day, this undeveloped-no services-no restrooms-almost no parking beach is much as it's been for thousands of years - just plain beautiful.
Lowell, Massachusetts on the Merrimack River was "the" American industrial powerhouse during the 19th century. Today, it annually hosts the largest free Folk Festival in the United States each July. Otherwise throughout the Summer months, weekly concerts are held outdoors where folks bring there own chairs and enjoy music under the stars.
